HSV and Herpes Treatment

Genital Herpes is a viral illness in the same group of illnesses as the common cold sore and shingles. Herpes simplex virus (HSV) has no known cure, but can remain dormant in the body indefinitely. Oral herpes is generally caused by the HSV2 virus while HSV1 infections are generally found in the genital area. Recurrent HSV infections tend to not be as severe as the initial outbreak.

Herpes infections are problematic world-wide. HSV occurs in both the heterosexual and homosexual populations. There is a greater prevalence of herpes infections in lower socio-economic areas and in those populations with multiple sex partners. The best prevention of the herpes virus is to abstain from any intimate contact with someone who exhibits open sores in the facial, genital or anal areas.
