Face herpes is one of the most common forms of HSV infection and is caused by type 1 herpes simplex virus. The virus causes cold sores, but it may affect the face. Herpes on the face is characterized by blisters that grow on the skin near the lips. The infection is highly contagious as the virus can be transmitted through direct contact. If you touch the blister, you can contract the infection. Another common herpes infection is genital herpes, but this is caused by another type of virus HSV2.

You can catch HSV1 through direct contact, and this is how the disease spreads so easily. Even using the personal things of the infected can cause transmission of the infection. That is why it’s advised to isolate the materials of the infected person from the things of everyone else in the family.

If you look at face herpes pictures, you would realize that the disease resembles other skin infections. This viral infection, however, has symptoms that set it apart from skin infections. Other symptoms are headache, fever, and weakness aside from clusters of blisters on the face.

The first attack is usually the most severe with painful blisters and more pronounced flu-like symptoms. In some cases, the virus may attack the cornea of the eyes. Proper hygiene is important for someone with herpes. The infected parts of the body should not be touched by hand.

Unfortunately, there is no genital herpes cure. Only medications that reduce the severity of the symptoms can be used to treat herpes.
